Introducing our 2019 trips

Dear readers,

At Atlas Obscura, we have a mission: to give people a sense of wonder and curiosity about this incredible planet we all share. And nothing makes us more excited than bringing our community on adventures with us around the globe.

Over the last two years, we've taken more than 500 people to places like the Mongolian steppe, the Northwest Passage, and the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone. These trips are small and intimate, and take advantage of our global network to get us special access to hidden places and unusual experiences.

We're excited to announce our 2019 lineup of trips. Next year, we'll offer more than 70 journeys to 30 countries. In some cases, we'll revisit our greatest adventures, like hunting for communist-era monuments in the Balkans, star-gazing in Borrego Springs, California, and eating our way across Lisbon. But we've also got new trips planned, to places like Rome, where we'll get special access to the ancient necropolis buried five stories below St. Peter's Basilica, and to Colombia, where we'll be exploring the graffiti-lined backstreets of an overlooked corner of Medellín.

It's going to be an incredible year of adventures. We hope you'll join us.
