Federal heating assistance has been slashed from $6.1 billion in 2023 to roughly $4 billion today, and the current administration has proposed eliminating it entirely. A big part of why: AI data centers are driving electricity demand through the roof, and utilities are passing those costs directly to residential customers. You didn't ask to power the data centers. You're paying for them anyway. So, the question is whose problem it is to fix.
